Sharing gold in the community
Street food and catering duo Nik Williams and his wife Caroline were, like so many in the hospitality sector, looking forward to a busy Summer, serving up their Middle Eastern and Mediterranean inspired dishes to their customers at Vinegar Yard by London Bridge.
When lockdown forced markets to close, the pair had to reinvent their business. They were lucky enough to have access to ingredients through their suppliers, who they’re extremely passionate about, and they set up a community WhatsApp group offering chilled meals and Clarence Court eggs, delivered weekly, to their neighbours’ homes.
A few months later, over 100 households in Wandsworth have been enjoying this neighbourly gesture, and Nik and Caroline are now days away from delivering their 10,000th Clarence Court egg. To thank the local community for their support, they are hiding five golden eggs in this week’s deliveries, with the lucky recipients getting 2 meals on them.
Nik and Caroline are a wonderful example of how others have come together to support their local community over the last few months. Alongside their home deliveries they were also able to contribute to the nationwide support of NHS staff by providing hundreds of meals through Meals for the NHS. It’s very lovely to hear community stories of our stockists finding creative ways to help keep the nation fed. You can follow the excitement this week on their social media feeds Instagram nikskitchenldn, Twitter @nikskitchenldn and Facebook nikskitchenlondon. Currently they are only able to deliver in Wandsworth, so if you live in the area and are interested in receiving Clarence Court eggs and their chilled meals send them a message.
