Something to ruffle your feathers…
Did you know that eggs are a natural aphrodisiac? Whether scrambled, poached, fried or boiled, our eggs could spice up your Valentine’s Day.
Named after the Greek goddess Aphrodite, an aphrodisiac is a food, drink or substance that are said to increase your sexual desires. Aphrodisiac properties of foods and substances have been rumoured to affect our sex drive for centuries. Some may increase blood flow, while others, for example eggs will help reduce stress and aid the production of dopamine – two things that are crucial for a healthy sex drive!
So, we spoke to Nutritional Therapist Eva Humphries about the sexual benefits of eggs and if eating eggs prior to sex will maximise energy levels and increase your libido. Eva says that it’s all down to eggs containing the key ingredients for a healthy sex drive: Zinc, Vitamin D, Omega 3 Fatty acids, Vitamin B12 and Magnesium. These magical ingredients are all found in eggs, and they also have a good dose of the amino acid, arginine. Studies suggest that arginine won’t just help you to get into the mood but may also benefit sexual performance too…
